This database contains a selection of 212 kete from the Museum’s Maori collection – around 75% of the total kete collection. These kete illustrate the use of a range of materials and include a variety of types and designs.
Some of the kete included in this database were part of the Museum’s original collection, while others are recent creations by contemporary weavers. This selection is useful in that it is made up of kete that are held in Museum storage, so offers users the opportunity to see and learn about pieces that would otherwise not be seen in the Museum’s galleries.
