  • The Auckland Weekly News (5 October 1916, p. 40) incorrectly records him as having died of wounds.
  • Departed Alofi, Niue Island on 14 October 1915 on board SS Te Anau along with his three brothers: Hemu, Hipa and Peni (Pointer 2000, p. 16).
  • Arrived Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand on 19 October 1915 (Pointer 2000, p. 18).
  • Sailed from Port Said, Egypt, to Marseilles, France, on board SS Canada on 9 April 1916. (Pointer 2000, p. 173)
  • Sailed from England to New Zealand on board HT Corinthic on 17 June 1916. (Pointer 2000, p. 174)
  • "Shortly after leaving Dakar en route for Capetown, the second death occurred, this time the brother of Peni, 16/1107 Sergeant Pulu. He also had acute pneumonia. The story is told on Niue that when Peni was being buried the men were told to look away but at the last moment Pulu looked towards his brother and his death followed soon after. However it is not certain that Pulu was even on deck for the burial of his brother. He may well have been below, ill in the ship's hospital." (Pointer 2000, p. 59)
