Biographical Notes:
  • Private Murray was the son of Gordon Luckhurst Murray and of Elizabeth Murray (nee Allan), of Timaru.
  • Three sons, brothers were killed in WW2: David Magnus Murray (8176); Gavin Allan Murray (36771) and Henry James Murray (NZ415820).
  • Family write "He was seriously wounded and died in a German Casualty Clearing Station as a Prisoner of War. He was buried 27 May 1941 and the service was presided by Padre Hiddlestone, also a Prisoner of War. His gravesite is unknown."
