Biographical Notes:
  • Norman Lovelock was the son of David J. and Anna Lovelock, of Palmerston North; husband of Nancye Lovelock, of Paeroa.
  • Was supervisor at the Native Dept in Kaikohe. Educated at Palmerston North High School and Ruakura Agricultural College.
  • Volunteered in August 1940 and was commissioned as an officer in 1941. After serving in Northland he volunteered to go overseas in June 1943 relinquishing his commission to do so.
  • After serving in the Middle East he fought with the NZ Armoured formation in Italy.
  • Born in Palmerston North, Sgt Lovelock was the son of Mr and Mrs David J. Lovelock. His wife was Mrs N Lovelock and he had a son, David.
