- Served seven years with Royal Artillery and Royal Air Force (RAF)
- Served with Kayforce 1950-51
- "A few individuals would in due course receive tangible recognition of their services, though the strict quotas imposed on the award of decorations ensured that some worthy cases missed out. On Ferguson's [Lt-Col Ian Bruce Ferguson] recommendation, Hunt was awarded an immediate mention in despatches. So, too, was Fielden, posthumously; the death of this popular and unassuming officer, the regiment's first battle casualty, had been much regretted by officers and men alike." (McGibbon 1996, vol. 2, p. 138)
