| Biographical Notes: |
- The only son in a family of seven, Lieutenant Kidd was educated at the Westmere Primary School, Pasadena Intermediate and Rotorua High School. After leaving school he worked for a short time in Rotorua and Christchurch before receiving his commission in the Territorial Force. Lieutenant Kidd was a fine singer and guitarist and led a dance band in Christchurch. He was a popular entertainer in Rotorua and in the Army.
- On August 1 1965, he received his commission at Waiouru in the Territorial Force. He joined the Regular Force on April 17 1967 and was posted to Singapore from the Burnham Military Camp after having his final leave in South Auckland. He was stationed in Singapore for a year, and had served 8 months in Vietnam when he was killed.
- His death occurred when his patrol was ambushed on April 17 1970, exactly three years to the day since he had joined the Regular Force and only six days before he was due to go to Singapore for six weeks leave. From there, he was to return to New Zealand on 29 May 1970.
- Killed in action - general shrapnel wound to arm and chest
- Lieutenant Kidd's father, Mr Henry Beehre of Waiuku, received the New Zealand Operational Service Medal on his behalf from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence at a presentation at the Auckland War Memorial Museum on Thursday 27 November 2003
