| Biographical Notes: |
- Son of Percy Rolfe Sargood and Lucy Constance Sargood (ne Ormond), of High Street, Dunedin.
- Gained commission as Lieutenant on 16 January 1915 (Studholme 1928).
- "Reported wounded and missing on August 9th, 1915, obtained his commission in the Territorials in March, 1914, and enlisted for active service two months after the outbreak of war. He left for the front with the Third Reinforcements, Otago Infantry Battalion, crossing to Gallipoli in May. Shortly after landing he was invalided back to Egypt, but reeurned [sic] after three weeks in hospital. At the time of his death he was acting second in command of his company, and letters from his superior officers, as well as men who served under him, speak of his fine manly qualities, making special reference to his soldierly ability and humanitarian care of those placed under his charge. He came to this School from Dunedin in 1906, and subsequently went to England where he completed his education." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School])
