| Biographical Notes |
- Lindsay, the youngest in the contingent, was preparing for a commission in the Imperial Army when he volunteered for active service.
- 'Was an accomplished horseman and a good shot, considered as brave and cool in action by Major Robin, who recommended him for a commission with the British Cavalry.' (Stowers, p.147)
- Left Cape Town aboard S.S 'Papanui' arriving Port Chalmers July 1900. Lindsay returned to South Africa and rejoined the 7 Dargoons.
- In October 1901 Lindsay left South Africa for India with a draft of 158 men for the 5 Dragoon.
- Lindsay returned to New Zealand several times during his lifetime and on one such occassion married Miss Elsie Catherine Riddiford of Ferngrove, near Wellington in 1904.
- Served as Major in World War One.
