- Husband of B. Mary Coleman.
- Gained commission (from the ranks) as Second Lieutenant on 14 July 1917 (Studholme 1928).
- "Killed in action on April 13th, 1918, came here in 1896. He enlisted in the 24th Reinforcements, and after gaining his commission was transferred to the 28th, with whom he left in July, 1917. He was in hospital in November, which kept him in England until the middle of March. He then left for France, joining the Canterbury Regiment, being killed just a month later. After leaving School he went to Jesus College, Cambridge, and on his return here took up sheep farming in the Hastings district. He was buried on the second Sunday after Easter at Beaucart, just behind the hospital." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School])
